چکیده

A Helmholtz resonator with a curved cavity is studied for reducing jet-installation noise in configuration comprised by subsonic jet and nearby flat plate. The face-sheet are designed the Guess method impedance verified through an experiment simulation of tube. Both single double degree-of-freedom liners, latter perforated septum inside cavity, studied. good agreement obtained curves from design experimental numerical tube, particularly at frequencies close to absorption peak. Numerical simulations installed performed array resonators placed plate on lower side, targeting reduction ground observer. Far-field spectra show that order 7 dB respect baseline solid plate, resonance frequency liner. Moreover, there broad range around which sound pressure levels lined lower. For resonator, further (approximately 3 dB) higher frequencies, second peak coefficient curve. results also slight (2 - occurs observer shielded side but significantly narrower band frequency. This attributed acoustic waves itself prior their scattering trailing edge, coupled less abrupt discontinuity edge. Consequently, act strength source

Fluidic Chevrons for Jet Noise Reduction

Chevron mixing devices are used to reduce noise from commercial separate-flow turbofan engines. Mechanical chevron serrations at the nozzle trailing edge generate axial vorticity that enhances jet plume mixing and consequently reduces far-field noise. “Fluidic chevrons” generated with air injected near the nozzle trailing edge create a vorticity field similar to that of the mechanical chevrons ...

Acoustic Noise Reduction For Mobile Telephony

In the context of mobile telephony, speech signals are often corrupted by surrounding acoustic noise such as engine, traffic and wind as well as by system-introduced noise such as quantization, handoff, and channel interference. This in turn has an adverse effect on the perceived quality and intelligibility of speech as well as on the performance of speech processing algorithms throughout the n...

The Acoustic Analogy and Alternative Theories for Jet Noise Prediction

This paper describes several methods for the prediction of jet noise. All but one of the noise prediction schemes are based on Lighthill's or Lilley's acoustic analogy while the other is the jet noise generation model recently proposed by Tam and Auriault.1 In all the approaches some assumptions must be made concerning the statistical properties of the turbulent sources. In each case the charac...

Vibro-Acoustic Analysis of Acoustic Liners For MRI Scanners

Introduction Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners are popular medical diagnostic devices providing useful information about patients in a noninvasive manner. However, a disadvantage of MRI is the high level of acoustic noise generated during scanning, which is caused by the Lorentz forces acting on the gradient coils bound within an epoxy resin cylinder. As the gradient current switches di...

Technology Development for Electromechanical Acoustic Liners

This paper presents two key technology components required for the development of a self-powered, wireless, active acoustic liner system. The envisioned system consists of a tunable Helmholtz resonator for acoustic impedance boundary condition modification and an acoustic energy reclamation module as a system power supply. The common electroacoustic element for both of these components is an el...
